Abstract :
This study was undertaken to shed light on the changes of levels of CP acti vity, Cu and Fe in sera of (53) normal non-smoker pregnants without complication. dur ing three trimesters of pregnancy. Gl in cl_ude ( 18) ;re_gnants in the 1st trimester, G2 (19) pregnan_ts wear taken m the 2 tnmester and 03 ( 16) pregnants m the 3 rd tnmester. Another ( 18) serum sanTples were taken from healthy non-pregnant women age matched as control group G4. Results showed a significant steady elevation in CP actjvity and sennJl Cu with advanced trimester of pregnancy compared to control. The iron concentrations in the sera of pregnant women showed a s-ignilicc,tnt reduction compared to control group ·also a steady decrease in Fe levels with advanced trimoster was found. TheThe merased activities in CP as ·endogenous antioxidant durin g advanced pregnancy could be . acounter balance to the free radical generation due to the in.creaSe in Cu concentration With advance gestation.
