Abstract :
Mixed catechol- salicyladiminenate derivatives of antimony (Ill) and tin (IV) of the general formula M(cate)L]X, [whcre:M= Sb, X= 0; M=Sn, X= Cl; cate=catechol; o=l, L=aniline, n=2, L=mbromo- aniline, n=3, L=p-bromoaniline] were prepared by the reaction of equimolar amount of [(cate)MCln], [where n=l or 2] with Narylsalicylaldimines HOC6H4CH=NC6Hs ~HL1 ), HOC6H4CH= NC6H4 (HL1 ) and p-IIOC6H4CH = NC6H4Br (HL) in methanol as a solvent. These new derivatives were characterised by elemental analysis andspectroscopic methods [(l.R), (U.V-Vis) and (1H, 13C NMR for 11L2)]along with conductivity and melting point measurements. Thesestudies revealed that the geometry about Sb (lll) and Sn (IV) istetrahedral.
