Abstract :
Solar energy is the most significant resources of renewable energy to generate green energy, which can play important role in the replacement of fossil resources. The developments of new technologies and materials used in solar photovoltaic system used in solar power technology reduces the cost of solar PV module and increases the uses of solar energy as cooling, heating, and daily electricity demand of the world and emerged as viable alternative to produce clean energy in future. The paper describes the technological development of PV model, its present status and future opportunities in the context of Bihar, India. The objective of this study is to calculate the cost of a proposed PV system to provide adequate power backup used in remotely placed village in India. A case study has been done for the analysis of power requirement of a house in a day to compute the cost of a suitable PV system for a house based on the global solar radiation data available in Bihar. The total power requirement for a house has been calculated as 24.25 kWh/day by multiplying total requirement with 1.2 as fudge factor. The available average solar insolation data is 4.96 kWh/m2/day, so a solar PV system of capacity 4.89 kW is necessary to fulfil a house requirement.
