Abstract :
Camptocormia, or bent-spine syndrome, is characterized bysevere flexion of the thoracolumbar region while standing.Unlike kyphosis, it is neither a fixed nor rigid deformity. Theorigin of camptocormia is neuromuscular; the bony spineis flexible and the deformity often disappears in the supineposition. Ordinary kyphosis is characterized by rigid bonyor ligamentous abnormalities of the spine (i.e., osteoporosis,trauma,orspondylitis).Incamptocormia,thespineitselfisunremarkable.
