Abstract :
Thescanningelectronmicroscope/X-rayenergydispersivespectrometer(SEM/EDS)systemiswidelyappliedtorareearthminerals(REMs)toqualitativelydescribetheirmineralogyandquantitativelydeterminetheircomposition.TheperformanceofmultivariatestatisticalanalysisontheEDSrawdatasetcanenhancetheefficiencyandtheaccuracyofphaseidentification.Inthiswork,theprincipalcomponentanalysis(PCA)andtheblindsourceseparation(BSS)algorithmswereperformedonanEDSmapofaREMsample,assistingtoachieveanefficientphasemapanalysis.ThePCAsignificantlydenoisedthephasemapandwasusedasapreprocessingstepforthefollowingBSS.TheBSSseparatedthemixedEDSsignalsintoasetofphysicallyinterpretablecomponents,bringingconveniencetothephaseseparationandidentification.Throughthecomparisonbetweentheindependentcomponentanalysis(ICA)andthenonnegativematrixfactorization(NMF)algorithms,theNMFwasconfirmedtobemoresuitablefortheEDSmappinganalysis.
