Abstract :
heaim of this studyis to investigate the shearbondstrengthofanacrylicresintotitaniumafterdifferentsurfacetreatmentmethods.MaterialandMethods.Atotalofseventy-twodisc-shapedspecimens (10mm×10mm×2mm) werepreparedfromtitaniumalloy.Thespecimenswererandomlyallocatedtosixequalgroups:GroupS(sandblasting), GroupMP (metalprimer), Group10W(fiberlaser10W),Group20W (fiberlaser20W), Group10WMP (fiberlaser10W+metalprimer), andGroup20WMP (fiberlaser20W+metalprimer). Allofthespecimenswerethermocycledupto5000cycles.Afterthermalcycling,ashearbondstrengthtestwasconducted.Theshearbondstrengthdatawereanalyzedwithone-wayANOVAandTukey’sposthocpairwisecomparisons (p<005). Results.WhilethehighestvaluesweredeterminedinGroupMP,thelowestvalueswereobservedinGroupS.Additionally,GroupMPexhibitedsignificantlyhighershearbondstrengthvaluesthananyoftheothergroups (p<005) exceptGroup10WMP.SimilarresultswereobservedbetweenGroupMPandGroup10WMP (p>005). Thegroupsinwhichametalprimerwasapplied (GroupMP,10WMP,and20WMP) showedsignificantlyhighervaluesthanGroupS.TheshearbondstrengthvaluesofGroup10WandGroup20Wweresimilar.Conclusions.Theapplicationofametalprimersignificantlyimprovedthebondstrengthofacrylicresintotitanium.Fiberlaserapplicationmaybeanalternativemethodtosandblastingforimprovingthebondstrengthofacrylicresintotitanium.
