Abstract :
lastin-likepolypeptide(ELP) supplementationwaspreviouslyreportedtoenhancethephysicalpropertiesofmineraltrioxideaggregate (MTA). TheaimofthisstudywastoinvestigatetheeffectofELPsupplementationonthebondingpropertiesof MTAtodentin.Methods.TwotypesofELPsweresynthesizedandmixedwithMTAina0.3liquid/powderratio. Thepush-outbondstrengthtestandinterfacialobservationwithscanningelectronmicroscopywereperformedforELP-supplementedMTA. TheporosityofMTAfillingsinthecavitywasobservedwithmicrocomputedtomography.Thestickiness,flowrate,andcontactanglewereadditionallymeasuredforpotentialincreasedbondingproperties.Results.ELPsupplementationimprovedthebondstrengthofMTAtodentin. MTAsupplementedbyaspecificELPexhibitedalessporousstructure,higherstickiness,andhigherflowrate.ELPsalsodecreasedthecontactangletodentin. Conclusions.ThisresearchdataverifiesthatELPimprovesthebondingpropertiesofMTAtoatoothstructure. ThestickyandhighlyflowablecharacteristicsofELP-supplementedMTAmayprovideintimatecontactwithdentinandsupplyalessporouscementstructure,whichmightimprovethebondingpropertiesof MTA
