Abstract :
Thisin vitrostudyinvestigatedthedislodgementresistanceofEndoSealMTA,anewpozzolan-containingcalciumsilicate-basedmaterial, incomparisonwithProRootMTAandBiodentineinthepresenceandabsenceofcontaminationwithblood.Methods.Standardfurcalperforationswerecreatedin180 humanmandibularfirstmolars. Theteethwererandomlyallocatedto12groupsof15each.ProRootMTA,Biodentine,andEndoSealMTAwereusedtorepairtheperforations.Inhalfofthesamples,thewallsoftheperforatedareaswerecontaminatedwithblood,whereassalinewasinjectedintotheotherhalf.Apush-outtestwasperformedusingauniversaltestingmachineafter 24hoursor7days.Toevaluatefailurepatterns,thesamplesweresplitintohalfandwereexaminedunderastereomicroscopeata20xmagnification. Datawereanalyzedusingthree-wayanalysisofvariance,Tukeytest,andStudent’st-test.Results.Atbothtimeintervalsandinthepresenceandabsenceofcontaminationwithblood,ProRootMTAandBiodentinehadsignificantlyhigherretentionvaluesthanEndoSealMTA(p<0001). ContaminationwithbloodhadnoeffectonEndoSealMTA;however,itnegativelyaffectedthedislodgementresistanceofBiodentineat24hoursandProRootMTAatbothtimeintervals(p<005). Timesignificantlyaffectedonlythebondstrengthoftheuncontaminatedgroups(p>0001). ThemostcommontypeoffailurewasmixedforProRootMTAandBiodentine,whereasitwascohesiveforEndoSealMTA.Conclusions.ProRootMTAandBiodentineshowedhighervaluesofbondstrengththanEndoSeal MTA andmaythusbebetteroptionsfortherepairofrootper for ations.
