Abstract :
WereportontheeffectofthemorphologicalmodificationonopticalpropertiesandpolarizationofZnOnanorods(NR).Here,themorphologyandstructureoftheZnONRweremodifiedbyintroducingdifferentannealingtemperatures.TheincreaseoflengthanddiameterandchangeindensityoftheZnONRwereclearlyobservedbyincreasingtheannealingtemperature.Wefoundthatthesamplesshowdifferentoxygenvacancy(VO)andzincinterstitial(ZnI)concentrations.WesuggestthatthedifferentconcentrationsofVOandZnIareoriginatedfrommorphologicalandstructuralmodification.OurresultsrevealthatopticalabsorptionandpolarizationofZnONRcouldbeenhancedbyproducingahighconcentrationofVOandZnI.ThemodificationofVOandZnIpromotesadecreaseinthebandgapandcoexistenceofhighopticalabsorptionandpolarizationinourZnONR.OurfindingswouldgiveabroadinsightintothemorphologicalmodificationandcharacterizationtechniqueonZnONR.ThehighopticalandpolarizationcharacteristicsofZnONRarepotentialfordevelopingthehigh-performancenanogeneratordeviceformultitypeenergyharvesting.
