Abstract :
Atomicforcemicroscopy(AFM)isawidelyusedimagingtechniqueinmaterialsciences.Afterbecomingastandardsurface-imagingtool,AFMhasbeenproventobeusefulinaddressingseveralbiologicalissuessuchasthecharacterizationofcellorganelles,quantificationofDNA-proteininteractions,celladhesionforces,andelectromechanicalpropertiesoflivingcells.AFMtechniquehasundergonemanysuccessfulimprovementssinceitsinvention,includingfluidicforcemicroscopy(FluidFM),whichcombinesconventionalAFMwithmicrochanneledcantileversforlocalliquiddispensing.Thistechnologypermittedtoovercomechallengeslinkedtosingle-cellanalyses.Indeed,FluidFMallowsisolationandinjectionofsinglecells,force-controlledpatchclampingofbeatingcardiaccells,serialweightingofmicro-objects,andsingle-cellextractionformolecularanalyses.ThisworkaimstoreviewtherecentstudiesofAFMimplementationinmolecularandcellularbiology
