Abstract :
TheaimofthisstudywastoidentifythecorrelationbetweenmasterymotivationandsensoryprocessingdifficultiesamongSouth
Koreanchildrenwithdevelopmentalcoordinationdisorder(DCD).Ninety-ninechildrenaged4–7yearswithDCDparticipated.
TheDimensionsofMasteryQuestionnairewasusedtoassessthemasterymotivationofthechildren,andtheShortSensory
Profilewasusedtoassessthechildren’ssensoryprocessingdifficulties.Allsubjectsshowedlowermasterymotivationand
definitedifferencesinsensoryprocessing.Masterymotivationwassignificantlycorrelatedwithsensoryprocessing(r=−0:34,
p=0:01).Masterymotivationpredicted41.1%ofthesensoryprocessing.Inparticular,anegativereactiontofailureinmastery
situationsscale(p<0:01)andgeneralcompetencecomparedtopeersscale(p<0:05)inmasterymotivationweresignificant
predictors.Thisstudyindicatedthatsensoryprocessingdifficultiesandlackofmasterymotivationwereidentifiedamong
childrenwithDCDinSouthKorea.Andthechildrenwithhighmasterymotivationshowlessdifficultyinsensoryprocessing.It
issuggestedtodeveloppossiblesolutionforhighermasterymotivationtoimprovesensoryprocessingofthechildrenwithDCD
inSouthKorea
