Abstract :
Earlyidentificationofinvisiblecomorbidneurodevelopmentaldisorders,suchasspecificlearningdisorders,attention
deficithyperactivedisorders,anddevelopmentalcoordinationdisorders,iscrucialtoimprovingchildren’sdailyfunctionaldeficits
relatedtoexecutivefunctions.However,apracticalquestionnairetoaddressparents’concernsislacking.Aims.Todevelopa
reliableandvalidassessmenttoolthatcanidentifyyoungchildrenatriskforinvisibleunderrecognizedneurodevelopmental
disorders.ThisarticledescribesthedevelopmentandstandardizationoftheChildEvaluationChecklist(CHECK).Methods and
Procedures.Participantswere186childrenaged3to6years:91withsuspectedinvisibleneurodevelopmentaldisorders,and95
controlswithtypicaldevelopment.Parentscompletedademographicquestionnaire,theCHECK,andtheBehaviorRating
InventoryofExecutiveFunction-PreschoolVersion(BRIEF-P).Outcomes and Results.TheCHECK’sconstructvalidity
indicatedhighinternalconsistencyforeachpart(PartA:α=:94;PartB:α=:90)andmoderate-to-highconsistencyforeachof
PartA’sfourfactors.Significantcorrelations,aswellassignificantgroupdifferences,werefoundbetweentheCHECKfactors
andBRIEF-Pscores.Conclusions and Implications.UseoftheCHECKallowsfortimelyidentificationofsuspicious(“redflags”)
invisibleneurodevelopmentaldisorders.Itmaysupportparents’sufficientawarenessandknowledgetorefertheirchildrenfor
comprehensiveevaluationandintervention
