    Occupationaltherapyandoccupationalsciencearefoundedonthetheoreticalcoreassumptionthatoccupationand qualityoflife(QoL)arecloselyrelated.However,suchtheoreticalcoreassumptionsmustbesupportedthroughempiricallybased research.Objective.ToinvestigatetheassociationbetweenQoLandoccupation,hereself-reportedandobservedADLabilitiesasa partofoccupation,amongpeoplewithadvancedcancer,includingdeterminingwhetherself-reportedorobservedADLabilityhad thestrongerassociationwithQoL.Methods.Thestudywasnestedinacross-sectionalstudy.TheassociationbetweenADLability andQoLamong108peoplewithadvancedcancerwasinvestigatedusingtheADLInterview(ADL-I),theAssessmentofMotorand ProcessSkills(AMPS),andtheEuropeanOrganizationforResearchandTreatmentofCancerCoreQualityofLifeQuestionnaire (EORTC-QLQ-C30).ResultsandConclusions.ResultsshowedthathighobservedADLmotorabilitywasassociatedwithhighQoL. Incontrast,observedADLprocessabilityandself-reportedADLabilitywerenotsignificantlyassociatedwithQoL.Oppositely expected,observedADLabilityhadastrongerassociationwithQoLthanself-reportedADLability.Thereby,thestudytosome extentcontributesknowledgeconfirmingthetheoreticalcoreassumptionsabouttherelationbetweenoccupation,here performanceofADL,andQoL.
