  • Abstract
    TheshifttowardsinclusiveeducationinmanyEuropeancountrieshasledtostructuralchangesthataffectbothschoolsandtheir relatedprofessionalsaimingtosupportchildren’sparticipation.WhilemostEuropeancountriesacknowledgeinclusiveeducation anditsneed,seriouschallengesexisttoitsimplementationatanationalandlocalcommunitylevel.Interdisciplinarycollaboration, includinghealthandeducationalprofessionals,isseenasanimperativekeyprincipleforinclusiveeducationservices.Tolearn abouttheoccupationaltherapist’scontributiontoinclusiveeducation,theaimofthisstudywastodescribethestateoftheartof occupationaltherapists’collaborationandservicesdeliveryinSwissschools.Usinganexploratory,cross-sectionalstudydesign, aweb-basedsurveywassentto509occupationaltherapistsinSwitzerlandresultingin302responsesfordataanalysisusing descriptivestatistics.Findingsshowthatnearlyallparticipants(97%)collaboratewithschools,and49%ofparticipantsprovided directserviceswithinamainstreamschoolsetting.Theseservicesweremainlyfundedbyhealthinsuranceandfocusedon physicalandsocialenvironmentaladaptations.Despitereportedcollaborationbetweenoccupationaltherapistsandschools, thisstudyshowsaneedforchangesinfederalhealthandeducationlegislationaswellasinnovativesolutionsforservice deliveryinschools
