Abstract :
Elderlypopulationsaregrowingrapidlyworldwide,thusenhancinganincreasingneedfortheirindependenthealthcare,
productivity,andmostimportantly,balanceofoccupations.Thisresearchisaimedatinvestigatingtheactiveageinglevelsand
timeusepatternsofanelderlypopulationattendingtheCommunityElderlySchoolinasuburbanvillageofnorthernThailand.
Theseparticipantscomprised140personsaged60yearsandolderandwerewithoutcognitivedeficits,basedonthe
Mini-MentalStateExamination.Activeageinglevelsandtimeusepatternswerecollectedbyfollowinganinterview-based
questionnaire.Theresultsshowedthatthelevelofactiveageingwasmoderate(meanactiveageingindex(AAI)was0.79).Allof
theparticipantsusedtheirtimeinvariedactivities,includingthesevencategories:basicactivitiesofdailyliving,instrumental
activitiesofdailyliving,restandsleep,education,work,leisure,andsocialparticipation.Furthermore,theyspentmostoftheir
timerestingandsleeping.
