Abstract :
The title iron complex, [Fe(C21H19N3)2], consists of an FeII atom chelated by two tridentate bis(imino)pyridine radical anions in a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment. In the solid state, there are two independent half-molecules in the asymmetric unit, and the complete molecular structure is formed by applying twofold rotation symmetry with the twofold rotation axis passing through an Fe atom. In the crystal, the Fe-containing complexes are not involved in any particular direct intermolecular interactions, with the shortest C—HAr contacts between neighboring phenyl groups being ca 3.2 Å.
