Abstract :
Work related musculoskeletal disorders such as entrapment neuropathies, impingement syndrome, low back pain, and tendonitis are usually not acute injuries, preceded by a single high-force event, but rather are associated with weeks, months or years of exposure to rapid motions or repeated forceful activities. Perfect assessment of the workers with the symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders and the physical environment they work is crucial for making accurate diagnosis and treatment of the patients. Comprehensive programs including ergonomic evaluations with medical treatment are effective in reducing the incidence and severity of work related musculoskeletal disorders. The goals of a medical management program should be to keep the patient functional at work and prevent disease progression.
