Abstract :
High analysis fertilizer contains more than 40% plant nutrients like Urea (46%N), DAP (18%N and 46% P2O5) and MOP (60% K2O). However, fertilizers with low nutrient concentration of less than 41% are like SSP (18% P2O5) , Ammonium Nitrate (33% N) and NPK grades like 20:10:10: and 20:10:5 are considered as low analysis fertilizers. Unfortunately, in Nigeria there is no value added on fertilizer based on nutrient content. Also, it showed that similar yield was obtained from the use of the two types of fertilizers. However, from the balanced application of the two during rice production, Net return ratio of 3.5, 2.76 and 1.82 can be obtained from the use of high analysis fertilizer, low analysis fertilizer and the control respectively
