Perkaitan Semantik Kata Kerja Bahasa Banjar Kuala: Satu Analisis Varian Kuin, Banjarmasin

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the semantic relations among the verbs in Kuin Varian, Banjar Masin. The verbs that have the same semantics property can be expressed by the different verbs. For example, the verbs berlari (to run), berjalan (to walk) and merangkak (to crawl) share the same semantics property namely the motion verbs. However each verb has additional semantics property namely berlari (to run) [+ speed], berjalan (to walk) [-speed] and merangkak (to crawl) [+knee]. These additional properties differentiate the action respectively. In order to account for the semantics relations of the verbs, this paper will employ the semantic decomposition approach/ the componential analysis. Componential analysis is most useful for uncovering and representing similarities among semantically related words.
