Abstract :
This paper explores the socioeconomic aspects of Aboriginal people by undertaking field research on Temuan tribe at Bukit Lagong aboriginal village. Field data have been collected from intensive interviews with key informants such as Tok Patin (the head-man) as well as group-focus with selected Aboriginal people. They are those who presumably acquired knowledge about thedevelopment in and surrounding areas near Bukit Lagong Reservation Forest. The collect data were presented in bar chart and pie chart. The results of this research showed that economic activities of the Aborinal at Bukit Lagong Forest Reservation still in self-sufficient and ‘just enough to life.’ Jungle resources had generated economic benefits through their daily economic activities whichcontributed to their incomes and other activities. Collecting domestic woods, rubber tapping and weaving had been thier economic activities that generated incomes. Moreover, since last few decades their economic activities had been changing from solely forest resources to their involvement in public and private sectors. Their standard of education had increase since 2009 especially through the endeavor of The Aboriginal Affairs Departmen which encouraged theirawareness on the importance of education. Their living aspects and pattern of life had also changes by the setting-up of basic needs facilities such as pipe water, electricity, village mosque (surau) and so forth. There were as well the penetration of information and communication technologies through the introduction of computer among few numbers of them.
