Abstract :
This work investigates the effective and safe parameters of radium leaching from contaminated sand filters, especially having high level of radioactivity. various carbohydrate materials such as Sucrose,Glucose, Fructose and Maltose, were dissolved in dilute HCl and the resulted mixture was used forreductive dissolution of iron and manganese. Experimental parameters, such as contact time, temperature,liquid/solid ratio and reagent concentration were optimized. The Optimum condition of radium removal was found as follows: Sucrose (44%) Fructose (39%) Maltose (33%) @ Glucose (33%). Reaction parameters of dissolution process were analyzed kineticlly.
