THE FIRST PRIVATE TURKISH NEWSPAPER DURING OTTOMAN PERIOD IN BOSNIA an‎d HERZEGOVINA GÜLŞEN-İ SARAY

It can ben said that during the XIX. Century in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is one of the borderland provinces of the Ottoman Empire with many different ethnic and religious structures, the serious problems of the government felt a lot more. The effects of Austro-Hungarians on Catholics and the effects of Russians on Orthodoxies have made the region much more precise. The general situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the establishment of printing, the establishment of state printing in Bosnia, the effects of foreigners to influence the Ottoman subjects through the media, the need for the newspaper, the tasks undertaken by newspaper and the first newspapers are the contents of our study. At the beginning of this study, we firstly searched the studies regarding this subject in Turkey and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Secondly, we have talked with the academics who are working on this subject or made some studies about the Ottoman Period Journalism at Faculty of Philosophy Department of Turcology at Sarajevo University. We took some translation and guidence services from the Bosnian students of masters and doctoral who had their part of education in Turkey and knows Turkish very well. Lastly we analyzed the available Gulsen-i Saray newspapers in the library of Gazi Husrev Bey. Although there are many local studies about the Turkish newspapers in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Ottoman Period, it is not possible to say that the number of the studies in Turkey is sufficient. In this study, information about the content of the first private Turkish newspaper ‘Gülşen-i Saray’ will be given and also the first Muslim journalist of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mehmed Şakir Kurtçehayiç who is the publisher of the first newspaper will be informed. In the conclusion part, the importance of studies made about the local newspapers will be mentioned.

Osmanlı Devleti'nin uç vilayetlerinden biri olan, çok farklı etnik ve dini bir yapıya sahip olan Bosna Hersek'te XIX y.y.da devletin içinde bulunduğu ciddi problemlerin çok daha fazla hissedildiği söylenebilir. Avusturya Macaristan İmparatorluğu'nın Katolikler, Rusya'nın da Ortodokslar üzerindeki etkileri bölgeyi çok daha hassas bir duruma getirmiştir. Matbaanın kurulduğu dönemde Bosna Hersek'te genel durum, Bosna'da devlet matbaasının kuruluşu, yabancıların basın yoluyla Osmanlı tebaasını etkileme gayretleri, gazeteye duyulan ihtiyaç, gazetenin üstlendiği görevler ve ilk çıkan gazeteler çalışmamızın içeriği içinde yer alan konulardandır. Çalışmaya başlarken öncelikle Türkiye'de ve Bosna Hersek'te konu ile ilgili yapılmış çalışmaları taradık. Daha sonra, dört ay süre ile Bosna Hersek'te ikamet ederek Saraybosna Üniversitesi Felsefe Fakültesi Türkoloji Bölümünde Osmanlı Dönemi gazeteciliği ile ilgili çalışma yapmış veya yapmakta olan akademisyenlerle görüştük. Eğitimlerinin bir bölümünü Türkiye'de yapmış olan ve çok iyi derecede Türkçe bilen, Boşnak Türkoloji master ve doktora öğrencilerinden tercüme ve rehberlik hizmeti aldık. Son olarak Gazi Hüsrev Bey Kütüphanesinde, Gülşen-i Saray Gazetesinin mevcut sayılarını inceledik. Osmanlı Döneminde Bosna Hersek'te Türkçe gazeteler konusunda bir çok yerel çalışma olmasına rağmen, Türkiye'de yapılanların sayısının yeterli olduğunu söylemek mümkün değildir. Çalışmada öncelikle, ilk özel Türkçe gazete olan Gülşen-i Saray gazetesinin içeriği ve gazeteyi çıkaran Bosna Hersek'in ilk Müslüman gazetecisi olan Mehmed Şakir Kurtçehayiç hakkında bilgi verilecektir. Sonuç bölümünde yerel gazeteler ile ilgili yapılan çalışmaların önemine değinilecektir.
