Abstract :
Putative tick cement protein (Haemaphysalin, 30 KDa) was extracted through SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting, from larval attachment cement cone of tick Haemaphysalis flava which elicited a strong stage reactive immune response during larval and post larval stages of tick feeding when parasitized on sheep. During feeding of larvae of ticks the first (30 KDa) protein in the cement cone appeared after SDS-PAGE when probed with anti- Haemaphysalis flava sheep sera collected from immunized hosts. Electroblotted cement proteins of Haemaphysalis flava larvae, nymphs and adults revealed common stage reactive bands of 30 KDa, which proved to be a stage reactive immunogen of importance while immunizing host.
