Abstract :
The study was carried out in the experimental area of Entomological Research Institute, Faisalabad during 2010. Four wheat varieties viz., Inqlab-91, Sehar-06, Lasani-08 and Faisalabad-08 were sown in two sets (treated and untreated) following RCBD replicated thrice. Imidacloprid 200 SL (Confidor @ 617 ml/ha) was applied twice in treated set of experiments for the control of aphids. Varietal difference was found to be significant at all post treatment interval during each spray. The aphid population was less than 1/tiller in treated plots and less than 10/tiller in untreated plots on all the varieties of wheat. 1000-grain weight ranged from minimum of 38.94g to maximum of 42.95g on Lasani-08 and Sehar-06 in untreated plots and 41.23 to 46.7g on Lasani-08 and Sehar-06, respectively in treated plots. The maximum grain weight loss was 8.03 percent in Sehar-06, whereas minimum on FSD-08 (4.3 %). Lasani-08 and Inqlab-91 showed 5.55 and 6.73 percent weight loss, respectively.
