Abstract :
The incompatibility between the oxidizing nitrate group and the reducing iodide is utilized to prepare K2CrO4 and I2 simultaneously .The redox reaction, whether a solid–solid or aqueous solution one is energetically efficient that produces the chromate at as low as ca. 475° C. FTIR, Raman, UV and X- ray diffraction measurements, in addition to analytical data, confirmed the formation of K2CrO4. A Mechanism was suggested.
