Abstract :
A solvent-free procedure using PhCOCl/Sb under microwave irradiation brings about a rapid Friedel- Crafts acylation of a range of aromatic compounds. Activated substrates undergo acylation predominantly at the para-position. The reaction affords good yield of the products and the catalyst can be easily recovered and recycled for the reaction.
