Abstract :
Indole-3-carboxaldehyde (ICA) was investigated as a derivatizing reagent for the fluorescence detection of amino acids at 385 nm and 265 nm. The separation of ICA-derivatized amino acids on a conventional reversed-phase column was achieved in less than 9.0 min. Linearity ( r ) for each amino acid was found to be greater than 0.9995 within test ranges, the limit of detection (LOD) between 0.018 and 0.118 mM and the limit of quantification (LOQ) between 0.061 and 0.391 mM. The procedure was successfully applied to the assay of the pure amino acids in a mixture and their pharmaceutical dosage forms.
