The editor of the book says, Over the past fifteen years, the writings of Russell L. Ackoff have had a major influence on librarians and their approach to library management issues. One of the features of Ackoff s management philosophy, the interactive planning process, is based on the assumption that the future depends as much on what we do between now and then as it does on what happened until now. That is, the future is largely subject to creation and planning is a process that is used to help us create our own future. Create our own future is the key phrase and it serves the foundation for this collection of articles presented in this book.
