Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Siddiqui inaugurated Golden Jubilee function. In the inaugural address, the Vice Chancellor pointed out that at this stage of globalization the responsibilities of library scientists have been increased many fold. He emphasized on the need of digitalization of libraries and adoption of latest technology for teaching and research. He also paid tributes to Dr. Abdul Moid the founder of Library Science education in Pakistan. He also paid compliments to Karachi University s former Vice Chancellors, Prof. A.B.A Halim, Dr. Ishtiaq Hussain Qureshi and Dr. Mahmood Husain, who assisted and encouraged-Dr. Moid in establishing Library Science Department. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the awareness of Professor Malahat Kalim Sherwani regarding the latest development in library science and the way she is upgrading the department with the latest technology.
