Abstract :
Objective: This study aims at finding the prevalence of congenital anomalies in Karak governmental hospital. Methods: There were 2349 reported live births in Karak governmental hospital in 2006. The overall prevalence rate of congenital anomalies in Karak hospital was found to be 1.28% of live births. Results: The total prevalence rate during 2006 was 128/10 000 live births. Each anomaly was studied separately and compared with the total reported anomalies. The highest prevalence was found in chromosomal disorders (26.7%) of total reported anomalies. Conclusions: The study also revealed some considerable associated factors.
