Overview of the Khalifa International Date Palm Awards

In 2007, the annual Khalifa International Date Palm Award (KIDPA) program was established in the UAE with the objective to enhance the standing of the Emirates in the field of date palm research. The general goal was to provide encouragement to and recognition of individuals and institutions in the advancement of date-palm cultivation and production, as well as to increase fruit consumption and to promote broader food and nonfood product use of the palm.
