Abstract :
A simple, facile one-pot method for the synthesis of 2-aryI, 3-aminoquinazoHn-4 (3H) one is described. The method was found more efficient and high yielding than the stepwise method reported in the literature. The synthesized compounds were characterized with the help of spectroscopic techniques including H-NMR, EI-MS, FAB-MS and were tested against bacteria (Bacillus pumis and Staphylococus aureus) and a fungus (Candida albicanus).
