Toxicity Determination of Some Pyrethroids against Tribolium castaneum and Sitophilus oryzae and Its Effect on Transaminases (GOT and GPT)

This report describes the determination of toxicity of two pyrethroids (Coopex and Danitol) against Sitophilus oryaae and Tribolium castaneum adults. The LC50 of Danitol was found to be 0.2749 % and that of Coopex was found to be 1.8 % against S. oryzae. Danitol treated Sitophilus adults showed 82 % and 70 % in GPT and GOT activity, respectively, whereas insect treated with Coopex showed 80 % and 24 % activity in GPT and GOT, respectively. In case of Tribolium castaneum the LC50 of Danitol was found to be 1.1 % and that of Coopex was found to be 0.027 %. Danitol treated Tribolium adults showed 78 % and 44 % in GPT and GOT, activity, respectively, whereas beetles treated with Coopex showed 98 % and 58 % activation in GPT and GOT activity, respectively.
