Abstract :
Catechols and hydroxamates are widely applied in medicine for chelation therapy in iron overload patient. Copper is widely distributed as a trace element in living systems. Excess concentration of copper causes Wilson s disease in which copper is accumulated in tissues which leads to disorder of liver and central nervous system. In iron deficent envoirment microorganism synthesize a low molecular weight chelating agent called siderophore. They have catechol and hydroxamate functional groups the system may be reversed by the use of these chelating agents. The aim of study was to establish the stability constant thermodynamic Stability by spectrophotometric and potentiometric studies of copper catechol siderophore, hydroxamate siderophore complexes. The data were analysed by computer program, thermodynamic stability constant values were calculated. These values were compared with iron catechol siderophore, hydroxamate siderophore complexes in order to find out which siderophore is best for chelation therapy of copper in the living system.
