Abstract :
The aim of this research is to investigate the correlation between the subjective assessment and some of the physical properties of woven fabrics. For this, 20 individuals were asked to evaluate subjectively the softness, fullness, tightness, drape, flatness, thickness, warmth, elasticity, tearing strength and resistance to ironing properties of five twill and plain fabrics having various fiber combinations of cotton, polyester and spandex. An evaluation form of 10 questions was administered to the individuals in this regard. Furthermore, some of the physical properties of the fabrics, like fiber contents, weight, weave type, fiber count, tensile properties and bending properties were analyzed by means of laboratory experiments. Data derived, was evaluated by the Statistical Analysis Programme (SPSS 15.0) and in order to define the correlation between some physical properties of the fabrics and the subjective perception of the individuals, Spearman Correlation Test was applied. The findings and results derived were discussed and related suggestions were presented.
