  • Abstract
The adoption of Western laws after the Tanzimat led to the establishment of new judicial institutions and practices initiated in this direction, which have taken their place in Ottoman Law. One of these practises is legal assistance. The topic of legal assistance was first taken up in the Lawyer Regulations, which took effect in 1876. In the Second Constitutional Monarchy period, legal assistance has been considered on a larger scale with respect to regulations and for the first time, the “Law of Assistance” was prepared by the Ministry of Justice. This article will focus on the adoption of legal assistance organization by the Ottoman judicial system, and related judicial regulations.
