  • Abstract
Eğil County (this county is attached to Diyarbakır city today) is the one of the culture and the civilization centres in the Southeast Anatolia since the ancient times. Pir Mansoor -one of spiritual and moral saintsone of descendants of the Prophet Mohammad’s (blessing and peace be upon to him) Uncle Abbas (God bless him) came from Hakkari and settled in this region in the eleventh century. At the end of the eleventh century Pir Badr who was the grandson of Pir Mansoor conquered Eğil Castle with the support of local people particularly Mırdasi Tribe living in this area and established an emirate where the castle was conquered. The Emirs belonging to the descendants of Pir Badr administered the Eğil region nearly eight centuries in the times of Marwanids, Seljukids and the Ottoman Empire. In this study we examined and translated two different shajara (the text of lineages pedigree) that certificated the Emirs of Eğil came from the generation of Pir mansoor and Abbas. The first shajara text dates back to around the first half of the fifteenth century, written and approved in the name of Sayyid Moustafa. The second shajara text is from the beginning of eighteenth century, written and approved in the name of Hussain Pasha. The main content of the text is the same in both shajaras.
