IDENTIFICATION OF THE CAUSES OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS WASTE IN SAUDI ARABIA

Construction waste is a very important issue that had been raised in the past few years. A lot of researches all over the world focused in this issue. The importance of construction project s waste stems from the fact that construction industry is a major component of any nation s economy. Any savings resulting from this sector will greatly affect positively the overall nation s economy. This paper aims at addressing the concept of waste to the parties involved in the construction industry. It also explores the degree of awareness of these parties regarding this issue. It aims at identifying the main types of waste in the Saudi s construction industry. And at last, it helps determining the main causes of waste in this industry. A survey regarding these issues was made and disseminated among the parties involved in the construction industry representing the Clients, Consultants and contractors. The results of the survey were then analyzed and the most important causes of waste are identified and finally recommendations regarding the future research for this subject are illustrated.
