Abstract :
A quiet revolution in architecture has been taking place over the last decade ,nowadays, access and accessibility have a much broader scope, and increasing attention has been paid to the mobility needs of children, women with children, elderly and disabled people in houses, streets and public spaces. As one of the developing countries Egypt has been facing a serious aeging problem . The improvement of the urban environment for an increasing senior population has become urgent for urban planners,designers and policy makers. Still many duildings hardly comply with standard building codes. Accordingly this raised the question in supporting dependent people, and how to best design appropriate housing settings. The aim of the article is to provide newly Developed Housing projects people with disabilities the right to have equal access to facilities within the urban environment and integrate them to take an active role in society and lead a normal life. The paper represents problems encountered in existing projects especially the new Housing projects in Egypt like (Ebni Beitac National Housing project) and the application of the Building Handicaped code recommendations suggested to provide housing barrier free environment for integrating disabled into future Developed Housing Projects.
