FOREWORD

The Journal of the Iranian Statistical Society (JIRSS) encourages high-quality research papers in all branches of Probability and Statistics. However, the emphasis is on topics of high current interest. As a part of this emphasis, it is our policy to publish special issues of JIRSS which focus on cutting-edge research in selected areas undergoing rapid development. I am pleased that Professor Jean-Yves Dauxois of the University of Toulouse, France, accepted my invitation to be the Guest Editor of this special issue on recurrent events.
