Abstract :
In this study 1080 L. carinatus snails were collected from drains and canals of old planted land (618 snail) and from canals of a newly reclaimed land (462 snail), from El- Beheira Governorate, Egypt; in the period from December 1997 to November 1999, and examined for larval trematodes. The results showed that the snails collected from a newly reclaimed land found to be free from any larval trematodes, whereas four species of cercariae were recorded from aged (4-5.5 cm in width) L carinatus snails collected from old planted land; represented by three species of xiphidiocercariae given the names (A), (B) and (C), while the fourth species was distome gymnocephalous cercaria. Except the cercaria type (C) the other three species were detected for the first time in Egypt. The morphology and biological characters of the new species were given in the present investigation
