Abstract :
Aminated sawdust having different content of nitrogen were prepared at constant reaction time, temperature and sodium hydroxide concentration. The prepared aminated samples were characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy and by estimation of nitrogen content. The aminated samples were utilized for removal of Hg (II) from aqueous solution via studying all factors affecting percent removal of Hg(II). These factors were, pH of the adsorbate, adsorbent concentration, agitation temperature, agitation time and extent of modification. The experimental data showed that the aminated sawdust were effectively used in removal of Hg(II) from aqueous solution.
