Abstract :
sırnak and its environ is a crossroad during the Neolithic Period. In the South of the region there are very important Neolithic settlements like excavated sites as Nemrik, Mazhgalia, Ginnik and Qermez Dere in Northern Iraq, and in the Southwest of the region there are also very important Neolithic sites as Güzir Höyük, Hallan Çemi, Demirköy, Körtik Tepe and Çayönü settlementsaround sırnak area testify the presence of important sites in the area especially in the Neolithic Period. Today there are lots of archaeological sites whose excavations are being carried out in Iraq and Syria. During the surveys in the areas of Cizre, Silopi and idil, 119 archaeological sites have been determined. None of these sites were compeletely excavated yet but the surface finds show a time range including Neolithic Period. Further archaeological excavations which will be carried out in the future will make us understand the historical importance of sırnak and its region in more certainity. This study aims to compile the prehistoric archaeological sites insırnak and in its environ to reveal the importance of the region in prehistoric times.
