Abstract
The present study aims to evaluate to what extent the elementary school program put into force in 2005 has been implemented, basing on the opinions of the pre-service teachers. Study group of the present study consists of 306 fourth year students from the departments of Turkish Education, Education of Social Sciences, Science Education and Elementary Classroom Education at the Education Faculty of Muğla University. The data were collected through “Determination of the Elementary School Program Implication Questionnaire” developed by the researchers. Frequencies and percentages were calculated to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that the teachers cannot carry out the activities effectively, they cannot select techniques and methods complying with the content and they cannot use assessment techniques appropriate for evaluating the students’ gains. As a conclusion, it was found that 2005 elementary school program has not been implemented effectively.
