Abstract :
This study aimed to examine the profiles of the strategies which were used by the prospective teachers in order to cope with boredom during classes. A total of 617 prospective teachers participated voluntarily in the study. Based on the data obtained through the prospective teachers’ responses on the boredom coping strategies scale, correlation analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted. The findings demonstrated that the prospective teachers’ boredom coping strategies can be examined through cognitive approach, behavioral approach, cognitive avoidance, and behavioral avoidance strategies in a valid and reliable manner. Findings also showed that the prospective teachers’ boredom coping strategies can be defined through three significant profiles, entitled ‘perception switchers cluster’ ‘behaviorally maladaptive ones cluster’, and ‘disappointed ones cluster’.
