Abstract :
In Turkey, regardless of learners’ age, social roles, life experiences etc.; whether the target groups are adults or not, the whole system is built on the pedagogical principles and methods in any training process. However, in any educational process intended to apply for adults, the first term to keep in mind is “andragogy”, the science of teaching adults. In this paper, the term of andragogy is studied in detail and its historical process both in the world and in Turkey is discussed. Then, the differences between andragogy and pedagogy are emphasized by separating the application fields of the terms. As a conclusion, the significance of expanding the use of andragogy in educational curriculums for adults is emphasized
