  • Abstract
    The development of conversation, that one of the basic language skills is aimed in Turkish teaching . In order to develop speaking skills, the student should feel himself qualified and competent on that subject. If the student is worried about the skill he will experience difficulty both in the development of skill and in acting process. So it is thought that there is a necessity of a scale instrument to determine the ” speaking anxieties” of secondary school education student. In this study, all the processes of development of “Speaking Anxiety Scale” ,which is for primary education students, take part. The data of the study has been obtained from 537 students selected randomly from ten secondary school in Yenimahalle district of Ankara. Literature review, item arrangement , content validity( reference of expert opinion), pretesting, and finally validity and reliability verification phases have been practiced in the development process of scale instrument. The data obtained has been analysed with SPSS package. In the study 33 items scale has been revealed. Cronbach alpha coefficient has been set 0.716 as internal consistency for the scale showing five factor structure following the search of factor analysis.
