A Manuscript Found In The Library Of Turk Tarih Kurumu: Atalarsözü Külliyât

The task of collecting proverbs began in the period of Tanzimat and increasingly continued with the Republican era. One of the works written in this period was a work Atalarsözü Külliyâtu composed by Hüseyin Görbil. As a manuscript this book is recorded in the Library of Turk Tarih Kurumu in the number of Y/693. Consisting of 20 files, this book also involves idiom, rhyme, prayer and curse as well as the proverbs. In the introductory chapter of his Külliyât, Görbil brought together what was written on proverbs until his time partially or in summary, and now and then made considerations on them. This work consists of two chapters. In the first chapter (1-9th files), the proverbs are grouped alphabetically. In the second chapter (10-19), they are classified according to their subjects, and the related statements are mentioned under the titles. The last file contains anecdotes gathered from the Külliyât-i Letâif of Fâik Re âd.
