Abstract :
This study aims to determine teachers’ opinions concerning the training curriculum in primary schools (IYEP). This study, which was designed as a case study, was conducted with 38 classroom teachers working in Van and Şanlıurfa provinces. The data were collected with a semi-structured interview form analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the study, it was determined that approximately half of the teachers did not benefit from the curriculum adequately due to the deficiencies in curriculum design in terms of objectives, teaching materials, application guidelines, although the teachers considered the curriculum as a useful practice for the students who could not reach the sufficient level in Turkish and mathematics skills. In addition, the problems faced by most of the teachers in IYEP process are as follows; The absenteeism of the students, additional responsibilities to students outside of school classes, differences in the student levels in the modules, the lack of motivation of some students and the lack of interest of parents. In this case, material support can be provided to teachers by Ministry of National Education (MEB) within the scope of IYEP and activities that will increase cooperation with parents can be planned in order to solve the absenteeism problem.
