Abstract :
The issue of prison in Turkish Literature, both in the public literature and Divan, the hero of the literary works of literature, the court should take a hardship that is a test of heroism as a place has an old history. This reality, after the Tanzimat (1839) with Namık Kemal’s (1840-1888) letters written during his exile in the Magosa became to sociological and psychological problem. It gains political dimension, after socialist realist discourse has become prevalent in Turkey. Thanks to socialist realistic trend in Turkish litterature starting with Nazim Hikmet (1901- 1963), the writer’s approach to prison and forms of exercise began to show similarities. Writers like Sabahattin Ali (1907-1948), Kemal Tahir (1910-1973), Orhan Kemal (1914-1970) have fictionalized the reality in similar forms and speeches. Kerim Korcan is also a writer appeared in this tradition. Together with novels about different subjects like Ter Adamlar (1975), Patrona (1983), Dimitrof Geçiyor (1978), he is famous with the works about his experience from his prison days, which he was sentenced for political reasons. In this researh, the issues like what kind of reality he had created in the novels and stories about prison and what’s the function of this reality in the fiction’s plot are detected.
